Mother Nature gives us so much; she gives us life. The beauty that surrounds us and the truth that surrounds us is so powerful. And yet, we has humans choose to ignore it. Society has in a way taught us to ignore it. Unlike the Native Americans who were in tune with nature and lived life with a profound respect and connection to nature and the universe, humans today ignore it, trash it and stomp all over it. I often send letters to our government officials through the NRDC website asking them to stop hurting our environment and start preserving it. To see animals suffer truly affects my heart. That is why I was so sad to read the following excerpt in an email that was sent to me from the NRDC. I just had to give something to help protect our wildlife and nature. I feel that is why I work, that is why I am here. See excerpt below:
"Scientists recently documented a mother bear swimming non-stop for 232 hours in search of sea ice. She lost her cub. She lost 22 percent of her body fat. She nearly lost her life. Polar bears are stressed enough from climate change. The last thing they need is an oil spill off the coast of the Arctic Refuge. Help us stop Shell from drilling in polar bear habitat."
